Even though iOS 15 is just two months away from being introduced at the Worldwide Developers Conference in June, we know next to nothing about the upcoming update as Apple has been able to keep details under wraps so far.

French site iPhoneSoft today said that it has spoken to an unnamed source that has provided questionable details on some features that we can expect to see in ‌iOS 15‌, and features coming to future iPhones and Macs.

The site claims that Apple is working on a redesigned Control Center for the iPhone that would be similar to the Control Center that was introduced in the macOS Big Sur update. It's said to be "more compact" and "visually clearer" than the current iOS Control Center.

Curiously, iPhoneSoft says that the Control Center won't be introduced until beta four or beta five of the upcoming beta, which is unusually specific and seems unlikely.

Apple is also said to be developing an API that would allow developers to take advantage of both Touch ID and Face ID as dual biometric options, which would only be possible with an ‌iPhone‌ that supports both Face ID and ‌Touch ID‌. We have heard rumors that an iPhone 13 model could include under-display ‌Touch ID‌ in addition to Face ID, but it's not clear if this is a feature that's actually going to launch.

On the developer side this time, Apple is working on a new API that would allow them to use multi-factor authentication for the first time. ‌Touch ID‌ and Face ID would be combinable options to strengthen security with two additional biometric tests. We imagine that banking or messaging apps will rush on it. In any case, customers will be delighted because they will finally have the possibility of unlocking their ‌iPhone‌ with one or the other solution depending on the context (with a mask for example).

iPhoneSoft claims that the ‌Touch ID‌ sensor that's coming will be "almost fused to the glass," which requires the display to be stock to work, something that repairers "are not going to like."

Other rumored features iPhoneSoft says are coming:

  • AirTags support - The site claims ‌iOS 15‌ is the "right version" for AirTags and will include full ‌AirTags‌ support.
  • Face ID for Macs - This long rumored feature is said to be coming to the 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, along with the 2021 iMac, but iPhoneSoft's information conflicts with recent information from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, who said Face ID is not coming to the Mac anytime soon.
  • 1TB Storage for iPhone 13 - A 1TB storage option for the high-end ‌iPhone 13‌ models has been rumored before, and iPhoneSoft says that it "got the green light internally.

We don't know where the site's information is coming from and cannot verify that it's accurate, so this information should be viewed with some skepticism for the time being. Several of the details are also echoing rumors that we've heard in the past, which is worth noting.
